Behind the Tools

My name is Matt Durbin, and I build custom leather goods out of Leander, Texas. I grew up around Austin, Texas which cultivated my love for art and creativity. While spending time at nearby family ranches I became fascinated with the outdoors and anything to do with the western lifestyle. This fascination made me want to pursue a career in agriculture, so in 2014 I went to Texas A&M to study agribusiness. My sophomore year I met Clayton Kinney, a leather craftsman, and my life changed forever. Clayton took me on as an apprentice, and I quickly became obsessed with the craft trying to learn as much as possible. I started creating my own designs during my senior year of college and Durb’s Leather, LLC was formed shortly after graduation in May of 2018.

My passion for quality and excellence is what drives me to work long hours building products for my customers. Hand drawing and tooling designs specifically made with attention to detail challenges me to provide a personal experience for each order. I feel very drawn to the community of western artists and have an appreciation for many of them based on their own unique mediums.

Durb’s Leather ultimately promotes a brand of quality craftsmanship that will last for years to come. I am proud to provide a custom experience that is wholeheartedly driven by my love for the art.
